A. melanogenum HN6.2 can produce an esterase of 208.1 ± 2.7 units per 100 ml. The molecular weight of the purified esterase was 60.2 kDa. The produced esterase was different from that produced by any other fungal strains. The cloned esterase gene was indeed closely related to the esterase activity.
