An approach for a rapid determination of the aging time of lime putty

Longer slaking time under water of quicklime favors lime putty of better quality. More aged-lime putties show shape changes from prisms to platelikes crystals. Aggregates of portlandite crystals form pores smaller in sizes with the aging time. A stronger interaction results between water and intra-aggregated pores smaller in size. An effective aging time of lime putty can be established from TGA analysis.
