Prehistoric exploited ferruginous mineralisations of the Monaca cave were analysed. Ferruginous mineralisations were studied by pXRF, XRD, micro-Raman and FTIR. The local ferruginous mineralisations were identified. As, Cu, V and Zn can be used to discriminate this specific geological source. pXRF was a rapid/inexpensive alternative to laboratory-based geochemical techniques.
