Geochemistry, mineralogy, and petrology of boninitic and komatiitic rocks on the mercurian surface: Insights into the mercurian mantle
文摘
The compositions of nine distinct geochemical regions on Mercury are reported. The surface of Mercury is dominated by plagioclase, pyroxene, and olivine. Petrologic classification of the rocks on Mercury show the surface is highly diverse. Mercury's surface is composed of boninitic and komatiitic rocks. The elevated SiO2 content on Mercury is a primitive feature related to low oxygen fugacity.
