A novel tau class glutathione S-transferase gene, LrGSTU5, was isolated from Lilium regale Wilson.

The expression of LrGSTU5 responded to the infection of Fusarium oxysporum.

Four disease resistance-related genes were up-regulated in LrGSTU5 transgenic T1 tobacco.

Three important antioxidant enzymes activities were significantly increased in the LrGSTU5 transgenic T1 tobacco.

The overexpression of LrGSTU5 conferred strong resistance of transgenic tobacco to F. oxysporum.
