Mesoporous TiO2 (meso-TiO2) had the larger pore channel than MCM-41.

Polyethylenimine (PEI) were modified on meso-TiO2 surface and inner-channel.

Appropriate molecular mass of PEI treated meso-TiO2 had great barrier property.

Meso-TiO2/PEI prolonged the path of water molecules diffusing into the coatings.

Meso-TiO2/PEI structure enhanced epoxy coating barrier and anticorrosion property.
