SERCA2a can be serotonylated in vitro by 5- hydroxytryptamine.

Simulation studies revealed that changes of Ca2+ affinity of the SERCA2a pump caused either tachycardia or bradycardia.

Decreased forward-mode or increased reversed-mode Ca2+ affinity of the SERCA pump lead to tachycardia.

Increased forward-mode or decreased reversed-mode Ca2+ affinity of the SERCA pump lead to bradycardia.
