ITS and psbA-trnH regions of Medicago ruthenica on the Qinghai-Tibet were analyzed. M. ruthenica on the QT shows higher haplotype diversity and lower nucleotide diversity. Significant population structure was detected in M. ruthenica on the QTP. Geographical isolation caused by altitude contributes to genetic diverse in M. ruthenica on the QTP.
