We compared the human health and ecotoxicological impact of bioenergy with coal fuel. Respiratory effect is a concern to electricity production from wood biomass. Bioenergy systems significantly reduced both human health and ecosystem quality. Bioenergy can assist Alberta’s Climate Leadership plan to end electricity from coal.
