A new fluorescent sensor for detection of Hg(II) and cysteine based on Mg-N-CQDs was fabricated.

Preparation of the Mg-N-CQDs is very simple and low-cost.

The method shows good sensitivity and selectivity for Hg(II) and cysteine detection.

An IMPLICATION logic gate was successfully constructed to mimic this experiment.
