This paper provides significant evidence of environmental and cultural landscapes in the Trent Valley, UK, from the Mesolithic to the Medieval. The geoarchaeological evidence contributes to international debates regarding technologies and human practice. The paper considers the challenges of undertaking long-term geoarchaeological projects in aggregate-rich landscapes and best practice.
