Radiation synthesis of transition metals on various substrates has been reviewed. Remarkable advantages of radiolytic synthesis over chemical routes are presented. Most radiolytic synthesis reports use γ-rays but future focus on X-rays is expected. Properties of synthesized nanomaterials can be tuned by dose, dose rate, etc.
