The laser transmission welding of thin aluminium to PLA films is investigated. The demonstrated process feasibility area is dramatically narrow. PLA degradation at the weld centre occurred. The bond is assured by nearby areas. The quality of polylactide-to-aluminium joints depends on the energy unit length. Dissimilar joint tensile strengths reached satisfactorily values.
