Low concentration acid and solar drying process were used to treat sugarcane bagasse.

0.1 M HCl and 1 h soaking period removed significant amount of alkali metals.

Burning bagasse in 800 °C for 1 h was able to produce quality amorphous SiO2 ash.

High surface area of treated ash contributed to the higher pozzolanic reactivity.

High pozzolanic reactivity proportionally related to the strength's increment.
