Domestic wastewater from IIT-Kgp campus was used as an inexpensive nutrient source for cultivation of Scenedesmus sp.

An integrated process was developed for wastewater remediation and CO2 sequestration for biofuel production.

The maximum biomass and lipid productivity in domestic wastewater with 2.5% CO2 were 196 mg L− 1 d− 1 and 65.17 mg L− 1 d− 1.

Microalgal lipid mainly composed of C16–C18 fatty acid, which is suitable for biodiesel synthesis.
