HOCl induces human serum albumin (HSA) Cys34 oxidation and protein carbonylation. Transthyretin, haptoglobin and α1-antitrypsin undergo HOCl-induced thiol oxidation. HOCl induces formation of high molecular weight (HMW) aggregates. Fibrinogen plays a significant role in the formation of HMW cross-linked aggregates.
