A monthly irradiance estimate based maximum power point (MPP) operating technique is proposed. Average monthly irradiance (Gav) and average of maximum irradiance (Gmax,av) is calculated irradiance data from NASA data base. Duty cycle for every month is calculated from using Gav and Gmax,av. A % MPP of 60–95% throughout the year is observed using these duty cycle control. Performance of PV system improves for short time interval irradiance estimates based duty cycle control.
