High frequency ultrasound standing waves enhance biomass separation. Sound pressure and free radical mapping underpins proper reactor design. Ultrasound-induced free radical production does not alter product quality. Adopted in the palm oil industry and emerging for other oil separation applications. Other applications include algal biomass dewatering and milk fat globule fractionation.
