SEC and SAC methods have been developed to prepare Cu-BTC and ZIF-8 using a vapor phase solvents recovery strategy. Zeolite loading and removal of solvents can recycle solvents effectively and achieve green synthesis of MOFs. SEC and SAC processes exhibited different mechanisms during the multi-stage reaction and cladding diffusion reaction. The reverse result implied MOFs in NH3 adsorption applications should possess both high water uptake and stable structures.
