Experimental aspects of CuO reduction in solar-driven reactors: Comparative performance of a rotary kiln and a packed-bed

Thermal reductions of CuO were carried out in a rotary/static solar reactor. Rotary/static performance, chemical conversion and thermal efficiency were compared. Important operative limitations were found when working in static mode. Chemical conversion was much higher in rotary mode experiments than in static ones. Thermal efficiency was higher in static mode due to limitations in energy feeding.
