Opioidergic effect on cortical excitatory propagation was studied by optical imaging.

Excitatory propagation was elicited by electrical stimulation of upper molar pulp.

Molar pulp stimulation induced excitation in the somatosensory and insular cortices.

Mu and delta receptor agonists suppressed and enhanced the excitation, respectively.
