The innate immunity plays an essential role in mediation of allergic responses. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) have a pivotal role in regulation of innate cells function in the context of asthma disease. Chronic stimulation of TLRs can exacerbate local inflammation via recruitment and activation of innate cells around airways. TLRs have a substantial role in priming innate cells and the regulation of their functions such as cytokine release.
