Accumulation of humic-like and proteinaceous dissolved organic matter in zero-discharge aquaculture systems as revealed by fluorescence EEM spectroscopy
Humic-like and proteinaceous substances accumulate in zero-discharge systems (ZDS). A humic-like substance (HS) was detected in blood of fish cultured in the ZDS. The digestion basin of the ZDS is an important production site of HS-like substances. In fish blood, HS increased with higher concentrations of HS in the culture water.
