In situ surface modification of thin film composite forward osmosis membranes with sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone) for anti-fouling in emulsified oil/water separation
In situ surface grafting of TFC FO membrane with NH2-BPSH100 was performed. The membrane exhibited superhydrophilic and underwater superoleophobic properties. The membrane showed excellent antifouling properties towards oil/water emulsion. The membrane fouling can be easily eliminated by simple hydraulic flushing. Water flux remained as high as 69.8% of its initial value at 80% water recovery.
