Development of green acid catalysts for Friedel-Crafts alkylation. Physicochemical properties of catalysts are controlled by simple adjustments. The prepared catalysts exhibit a high surface area and a uniform pore diameter. Nanosheets exhibit 3–4 times higher catalytic activity over conventional catalyst. Nanosheets have remained their catalytic activity at a longer reaction time.
