Current academic literature on REDD does not show inter-ideological collaboration. Collaboration between ‘hierarchists’ and ‘individualists’ exists, but not ‘egalitarians’. Egalitarians criticize REDD’s top-down nature, demanding participation of local stakeholders. Cultural theory offers a framework with which to identify spaces of ideological divergences. Cultural theory can be used to formulate spaces for inter-ideological collaboration.
