Decision tree analysis of past publications on catalytic steam reforming to develop heuristics for high performance: A statistical review

A database was constructed for the steam reforming of methane from 81 publications. Database was reviewed by decision trees to extract trends, heuristics, correlations. Decision trees revealed best catalyst/reaction conditions not visible to naked eyes. Seven combinations of input variables were detected leading to high CH4 conversion. Temperature higher than 970 K was always required for Ni based catalysts.
