Y. eightsi presents an endogenous growth rhythm which may relate to gametogenesis. L. elliptica seems to present only a negative exponential (NE) growth trend. Regional-curve-standardization detrending is more appropriate for Y. eightsi chronologies than NE detrending. Understanding proxy species' ontogeny is crucial for climate proxy development.
