We established tissue- and gender-specific transcriptomes of Reishia clavigera.

Numbers of assembled unigenes were similar among tissues and between sexes.

But tissue-specific expression profiles were revealed by multivariate analyses.

Presence of steroid hormone receptor homologues in R. clavigera was highlighted.

This transcriptome assembly provides valuable resource for toxicological studies.
