Romantic relationships are key contexts for studying gene–environment interplay. Gene–environment correlations (rGE) have been observed for relationship outcomes. Gene-by-environment (GxE) interactions predict relationship outcomes. GxE interactions and rGE have been found for partners’ mental and physical health. Behavioral and molecular genetic studies can inform understanding of relationships.
