Structure of the O-specific polysaccharide from the lipopolysaccharide of Aeromonas hydrophila strain K691 containing 4-acetamido-4,6-dideoxy-d-glucose
The OPS from the fish pathogen Aeromonas hydrophila is elucidated. The OPS from Aeromonas hydrophila K691 has a pentasaccharide repeating unit. The O-antigen is composed of α-Rhap, β-GlcpNAc and β-Quip4NAc residues. Rhap is stoichiometrically acetylated at position O-2. Studies of Aeromonas O-antigens advance the identification of aquatic bacteria.
