Discusses Japan's Tokai site which is already home to a LWR fuel reprocessing plant and by 1998 a small-scale fast reactor fuel reprocessing plant will stand alongside it. The recycle equipment test facility is being built by the Power Reactor and Nuclear Fuel Development Corporation. By the beginning of the next century it should be reprocessing up to 6 t of fuel per year.
