High fat diet consumption causes adipose tissue inflammation and insulin resistance. (−)-Epicatechin (EC) mitigated high fat diet-induced adipose tissue inflammation. EC acts attenuating adipocyte endoplasmic reticulum and oxidative stress. Decreased inflammation can underlie EC-mediated improvement of insulin sensitivity.
