Balancing the baggage handling performance of a check-in area shared by multiple airlines

A new re-allocation algorithm is proposed for baggage handling in an airport check-in area. The algorithm balances the workload when multiple airlines share the baggage collection flow in the BHS. Check-in area performance is improved, and BHS throughput is maintained. The robustness of the algorithm is evaluated by applying exponential, uniform, and triangular distributions for the input.
