Nanosized TiO2 powder photocatalyst was implanted in the titania polyvinylalcohol-alginate beads.

Removal efficiency of Cd(II) by the beads was verified for different initial concentrations.

Verification of desorption capacity can be reused the beads for five cyclings.

Adsorption kinetics were analysed using the mass transfer factor models.

The resistance of mass transfer could be mainly dependent on external mass transfer.
