Effects of element addition on liquid phase separation of Bi-Ga immiscible alloy: Characterization by electrical resistivity and coordination tendency

Electrical resistivity changes abruptly as soon as liquid phase separation and monotectic reaction take place. Resistivity is superior to differential scanning calorimetry in indicating phase separation of immiscible alloy. Phase separation tendency of Bi33.3Ga66.7 alloy is weakened by tin but enhanced by indium within a minor quantity. Effect of element addition on phase separation of immiscible alloy depends on coordination tendency between elements.
