Telomeres were visualized in G. intestinalis and their clustering observed in G1 cells. The length of telomeric repeats ranged from 0.5 to 2.5 kb. BAL-1 digestion did not confirm the presence of interstitial telomeric repeats. Telomerase activity was detected and GiTERT nuclear localization confirmed. Alternative repeats to Giardia-type TAGGG motif were found as TRAP products.
