Aim

Allele level associations of HLA-DRB4^? containing haplotypes are not well established.

Methods

We analyzed allele level DRB4^? typings. Inclusion criteria in this analysis were allele level typing at DRB1^?, DRB4^?, DQA1^?, and DQB1^?; known race (317 Caucasians, 31 African Americans, 21 Asians, 23 Hispanic, 2 Middle Eastern, and 1 Native American). The DRB4^? alleles considered in this analysis included DRB4^?01:01, 01:03, and 01:03:01:02N. In these individuals, we identified 261 DRB4^?01:03 haplotypes (207 Caucasian, 17 Asians, 18 African American, 16 Hispanic, 2 Middle Eastern, 1 Native American), 97 DRB4^?01:01 haplotypes (77 Caucasian, 13 African American, 7 Hispanic), 70 DRB4^?01:03:01:02N haplotypes (62 Caucasian, 4 Asians, 3 African American, 1 Hispanic).

Results

The most common DRB4^?-containing DRB1^?-DQA1^?-DQB1^? are shown in by race. Our analysis shows that DRB4^?01:03 containing haplotypes show the most variation. A detailed table showing other common (>5 % ) DRB4^?01:03-containing haplotypes by race is shown in .

Conclusions

This is the preliminary step of an ongoing project to characterize DRB4^? containing haplotypes.
