Past research suggests that more effort is invested in pursuing self-concordant goals.

We propose that such goals can be pursued automatically, which feels subjectively easier.

Test if subjective ease or effort mediates effects of self-concordance on goal progress.

Within-person analyses show that pursuit of self-concordant goals feels easier.

Multilevel SEM indicates that subjective ease, but not effort, serves as a mediator.
