Forestry Best Management Practices can still leave ecological legacies on streams. Logging effects on litter decomposition rate diminished ⩽15 years post-harvest. Thinning better mitigated some ecological legacies than fixed-width riparian reserves. Stream ecosystem recovery from logging may not be parallel to that of water quality.
