Metal nanoparticles are now used in indirect nanoplasmonic sensors. Often, the target is also in the form of metal nanoparticles. The difference of their Fermi energies results in charge transfer. We estimate the value of the charge of the targeted nanoparticles. Its role in Ostwald ripening and hydride formation is scrutinized.
