Cerebral autoregulation is critical to the understanding of fatigue in exercise. Exercise heat stress reduces cerebral blood flow, neuronal activity is preserved CBF is attenuated prior to maximal exercise and accelerated by dehydration. A balance exists in brain blood flow and energy extraction to maintain brain activity.
