Angular intensity correlations in reflection of light from a random medium

The correlation of the angular reflection coefficients and their whole distribution are studied. The intensity fluctuations for different directions are shown to be negatively correlated. A deviation of the distribution function from the Rayleigh law indicates that large fluctuations of the reflected intensity are suppressed. All these peculiarities result from the constraints imposed by conservation of the energy flux.
