Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that may arise from alterations in the cutaneous immune response.p>

Rosacea patients demonstrate alterations in the cutaneous immune response including elevated levels of LL-37, increased expression of TLR-2 and increased amounts of vitamin D3 in the epidermis.p>

Rosacea patients demonstrate elevated numbers of Demodex mites and these may directly stimulate an immune response or transport bacteria that initiate an inflammatory immune response.p>

Rosacea can be treated by the use of antibiotics which may target bacteria populations in the skin and/or reduce inflammation.p>

Recent therapies have sought to eliminate Demodex mites from the skin and show some promise in controlling this disfiguring condition.p>
