Development of a computer model of heat transfer during production of rutile titanium dioxide in a rotary kiln. Simulation of chemical reactions occurring during calcination process in the sulphate method of rutile TiO2 production. Modelling of turbulent gas convection in the kiln using a stand-alone CFD model. Accurate prediction of kiln length, and axial solids and gas temperature distributions. A detailed parametric study lent a good physical insight into the rutile-TiO2 manufacturing process in a rotary kiln.
