We studied brain metabolite changes in the left DLPFC of patients with schizophrenia after prefrontal high frequency rTMS. An increase of glutamate concentration was found after active rTMS, a decrease after sham rTMS. Prefrontal rTMS did not influence N-Acetyl Aspartate concentration. High frequency prefrontal rTMS may increase prefrontal metabolism in patients with schizophrenia.
