Quantifies the benefits of traditional and new on-farm assessment of goats for predicting carcass attributes measured in the abattoir. Demonstrates that ultrasound scanning provides better estimates of eye muscle depth and fat depth than relying on live weight with or without body condition scoring. Body condition scoring was better than girth measurements in predicting carcass weight and carcass characteristics when used with or without live weight.
