Quantification of spinal deformities using combined SCP and geometric 3D reconstruction

A novel combined SCP and geometric (CSCPG) 3D spine reconstruction and deformity quantification methods have been proposed and validated.

CSCPG model is obtained by deforming the SCP reconstructed model using the vertebral orientation features.

The limited number of landmarks, low cost calibration apparatus and a simple generic model make the entire procedure very economical.

A semi-automatic method for evaluating spinal deformities with minimum human intervention is presented and validated.

These techniques are simple, fast and significantly reduce the observer variability.
