Three sets of optimization calculations were conducted.

It was found that optimal valve timing produced a gain in volumetric efficiency.

The optimal length of the intake duct diminishes as the engine speed rises.

High volumetric efficiencies can be attained by opening the exhaust valve late.

DE method was capable of finding the global extremum in the defined domain.
