Perceived safety and controllability of events: Markers of risk for marijuana use in young adults?

Perceived safety was modestly associated with elevated likelihood of marijuana use. Perceived controllability of events (CE) was rated higher by Blacks than Whites. Both CE and perceived safety were correlated with impulsivity and negative affect. CE was also associated with marijuana expectancies.
